About the chore wheel
The wheel holds 24 common household chores: 10 that come around every day and 14 that are usually weekly.
“Kid-friendly” keeps the 14 jobs that elementary-age children can usually do on their own. You know your kids better than a list does, so edit it.
On this wheel “Remove the winner after each spin” starts switched on: once a chore is taken it leaves the wheel, and the Results tab shows who spun what, in order.
Ways families run it
- Sunday spin: everyone spins twice and owns those chores for the week.
- A fresh spin each day for the daily jobs, so nobody is stuck with the trash forever.
- Roommates: load the weekly list, take turns spinning until the wheel is empty.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the chore wheel
- How does the chore wheel keep things fair?
- Every chore has the same chance of coming up, and a chore that has been taken leaves the wheel. Nobody chooses, so nobody can keep the easy jobs.
- Can I put names on the wheel instead of chores?
- Yes. Replace the list with the names of the people in your home and spin once per chore to see who does it.
- Which chores are on the kid-friendly wheel?
- 14 jobs such as making the bed, setting the table and feeding the pet. Remove any that do not suit your children’s ages.
- Does the wheel remember our list?
- Yes. If you edit the chores, your version is saved in this browser. Use Copy link to put the same wheel on another device.
