Decision Wheel
Type the options you are stuck between, then spin. The wheel picks one.
No spins yet. Each pick is listed here in order.
About the decision wheel
Replace “Option 1” to “Option 4” with the real choices. Two options work, and so do twenty.
If you lean toward one choice, you can say so honestly: write it on two lines and it gets two slices. The odds line shows what that does to the chances.
A common trick: notice how you feel in the second before the wheel stops. If you catch yourself hoping for one slice, you already have your answer, whatever the wheel says.
Decisions a wheel settles well
- Low-stakes choices where every option is fine: which movie, which trail, which game.
- Breaking a tie in a group without anyone having to “lose” the argument.
- Picking the order to do a set of tasks you would otherwise put off.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the decision wheel
- How does the decision wheel choose?
- It draws one slice at random, with the same chance for every slice, and then spins to that slice. It does not look at what the options say.
- Can I weight one option?
- Yes. Put it on more than one line. Each line is a slice, so an option listed twice is twice as likely as an option listed once.
- Should I use a wheel for big decisions?
- A wheel is a good fit when the options are close and the cost of a wrong pick is small. For a big decision, it is more useful as a way to notice which result you were hoping for.
- Can a group use the same wheel?
- Yes. Press Copy link and send it. Everyone who opens the link sees the same options, and each person’s spin is drawn separately on their own device.
