Number Wheel
Pick a range, then spin. Every number in the range has the same chance.
No spins yet. Each pick is listed here in order.
About the number wheel
The wheel starts with the numbers 1 to 10. Choose another range above the list, or type a lowest and highest number and press “Fill the wheel” to build your own, such as 0 to 9 or 50 to 75.
Each whole number in the range gets one slice. With 1 to 100 the wheel has 100 slices and each number has a 1% chance.
To draw numbers without repeats, as in bingo or a raffle, switch on “Remove the winner after each spin”.
What a number wheel is good for
- Standing in for a die: the 1 to 6 wheel gives the same odds as one fair die.
- Choosing a raffle ticket number in front of the room.
- Math practice: spin two numbers and add or multiply them.
- Picking a page, a seat number or a question number at random.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the number wheel
- How do I spin a number between 1 and 100?
- Choose “1 to 100” above the list and press Spin. The wheel has one slice per number, so each number has a 1 in 100 chance.
- Can I use my own range?
- Yes. Enter the lowest and highest whole numbers and press “Fill the wheel”. Negative numbers work, and a range can hold up to 1,000 numbers.
- Can the same number come up twice?
- Yes, unless you switch on “Remove the winner after each spin”. With that on, each number leaves the wheel once it is picked.
- Is this the same as a random number generator?
- It gives the same kind of result (one whole number from your range, each equally likely) and shows it as a spin that a group can watch.
