About the Mario Kart wheel
This page has 3 separate wheels for Mario Kart, the series of racing video games by Nintendo. It opens with the 50 drivers of Mario Kart World, a 1 in 50 chance each (2%). The other two come from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: its 50 drivers, and its 96 race courses with a 1 in 96 chance each (1.04%).
All three lists come from the Super Mario Wiki, which is a wiki written by fans. A driver appears once per list, so color variants of the same driver are not separate entries, and battle courses are left off the course list.
For a race where everyone drives someone different, switch on “Remove the winner after each spin” and let each player spin once: a driver that has been picked is off the wheel for the next player. On the course list the same checkbox gives you a run of courses with no repeats.
Ways to use the Mario Kart wheel
- Next race: each player spins and has to race as the driver the wheel gives them.
- Nobody can agree on a course? Switch to the course wheel and go with the first spin.
- Draw the character that comes up, in your own style.
- Mini tournament: spin four courses and race them in the order they came up.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the Mario Kart wheel
- Is this site connected to Nintendo?
- No. It has no connection to Nintendo. The names come from a wiki written by fans and are on the wheel only as text to pick from.
- Does the wheel choose a kart as well?
- No. You get a name and nothing else: a driver or a course. Picking the kart is still up to you, and the wheel cannot see your game.
- Why do some course names start with N64 or Wii?
- Those courses were brought back from older games. The wiki puts a short tag in front of the name, because several courses share a name.
- Can I put the drivers of both games on one wheel?
- Not with the buttons: the lists stay separate because many drivers are in both games. You can paste both lists into the list box yourself, but a name pasted twice gets two slices.
