About the Overwatch hero wheel
Overwatch is a series of team shooter games from Blizzard Entertainment, and the characters you play are called heroes. This wheel holds 54 of them: the playable characters listed in the Wikipedia article on the characters of the Overwatch franchise. “Choose a list” loads one role at a time: 15 Tank heroes, 23 Damage heroes or 16 Support heroes.
The list is a snapshot of that article. A hero who joins the game later will not be here until the page is updated, though you can type the name on a new line yourself. Each hero is printed on this page under a role, together with the source and the date it was read.
For a group, tick “Remove the winner after each spin” before anyone takes a turn. A hero that has been picked is then off the wheel, so every player gets a different one, and the Results tab lists the picks in the order they came up.
When a random hero helps
- Before a match: one spin decides who you play, with no second thoughts.
- Challenge with friends: the whole group spins, and everyone keeps their hero for three matches.
- A role you avoid: load “Support heroes” or “Tank heroes” and spin inside it.
- Drawing practice: spin a hero, such as Tracer, Mercy or Winston, and sketch from memory.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the Overwatch hero wheel
- Is this site connected to Blizzard Entertainment?
- No. It is not connected to Blizzard Entertainment or to Overwatch in any way. The hero names are text on a list, read from a Wikipedia article.
- Why is a hero under a different role here than in my game?
- Because a hero’s role can change with a game update. The roles on the wheel are the ones the source gave on the date printed under the list.
- Does each hero have the same chance?
- Yes. With all 54 loaded, each hero has a 1 in 54 chance (1.85%). In a single role it is 1 in 15 for Tank heroes (6.67%), 1 in 23 for Damage heroes (4.35%) and 1 in 16 for Support heroes (6.25%).
- Can I take off the heroes I never want to play?
- Yes. Delete their lines from the list and the wheel redraws without them. Your shorter list is saved in this browser for the next session.
