About the hairstyle wheel
The wheel opens with all 63 hairstyles, and each entry is the everyday name of a style, such as “Top knot”, “Fishtail braid” or “Buzz cut”. Under “Choose a list” you can keep one of 5 groups: “Up and tied”, “Braids, twists and locs”, “Short cuts”, “Long and loose” or “Curls and waves”.
Every entry is only a name: you get no picture of the style and no steps for making it. The names were typed up for this site, and the page prints every one of them below the wheel, group by group, where a parent or a teacher can check them first.
For a real head of hair, trim the list before you spin. Delete the styles the hair is too short or too long for, and the wheel picks only from what is left. The page keeps your trimmed list in this browser for the next school morning.
Ways to use a random hairstyle generator
- Drawing or writing: spin a hairstyle for a new character before you sketch the face.
- School morning: spin once and try whatever comes up before the bus arrives.
- Salon game: one child plays the stylist, the other the customer, and the wheel places the order.
- Dolls and avatars: spin once for each and give them the style that comes up.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the hairstyle wheel
- Will the hairstyle the wheel picks work on my hair?
- That depends on the length and kind of your hair, which the wheel cannot know. Nothing on the list is sorted by who can wear it, so press “Spin again” when a pick is not possible.
- Can I spin only braids, or only short haircuts?
- Yes. Under “Choose a list”, pick “Braids, twists and locs” for 13 styles or “Short cuts” for 13.
- How do I give every character a different hairstyle?
- Tick “Remove the winner after each spin”. Each style then leaves the wheel when its result window closes, so no hairstyle is handed out twice.
- Is there a wheel for hair color too?
- Yes. The Hair Color Wheel on this site picks a color the same way, so two spins give a character a full head of hair.
