About the random number 1 to 100 wheel
The wheel holds the whole numbers from 1 to 100, one slice each, so it works as a random number generator with 100 possible results. Every number has the same chance on every spin: 1 in 100, or 1%. The line under the wheel says so.
Unless you change a setting, a picked number stays on the wheel and can be picked again. Switch on “Remove the winner after each spin” to change that: a number then leaves the wheel once it is drawn and cannot come up again until the wheel is refilled.
The two fields above the list, “Lowest number” and “Highest number”, start at 1 and 100. Change them and press “Fill the wheel” to load another range of whole numbers, such as 0 to 99 or 50 to 100. A range can hold up to 1,000 numbers, and negative numbers work.
What to do with a number wheel 1-100
- Math class: spin a number and have students find it on the hundreds chart, then say whether it is odd or even.
- Prize drawing: hand out 100 numbered tickets and spin with “Remove the winner after each spin” on, so no ticket wins twice.
- Higher or lower: one player spins in secret and answers each guess with “higher” or “lower” until someone names the number.
- Tabletop games: let the wheel stand in for a 100-sided die.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the random number 1 to 100 wheel
- Are 1 and 100 both on the wheel?
- Yes. The wheel can stop on 1, on 100 or on any whole number in between. Zero is not on it; to add it, set “Lowest number” to 0 and press “Fill the wheel”.
- Where can I see all the numbers?
- In the list box next to the wheel, which holds every number. The page does not print them in a separate list below the wheel.
- How do I get the removed numbers back?
- Press “Fill the wheel” with the fields set to 1 and 100. The wheel is refilled with every number in that range.
- Can I pick a number between 1 and 1,000 instead?
- Yes. Set “Highest number” to 1,000 and press “Fill the wheel”. With more than 150 entries the labels on the slices are hidden, so read the number in the result window.
