About the prize wheel

The wheel opens with 49 sample prizes in 4 groups: classroom privileges that cost nothing, small things to hand out, family rewards at home, and booth or party prizes. The booth group also holds a few friendly non-prizes, like “High five”, for a wheel that should not hand out a prize on every spin.

All of these samples were written for this site, and they are only a starting point. Delete them and type what you really have, one prize per line. The page shows which prize came up and nothing more: it does not hand anything out, count what is left on the table or record who won.

For a booth or a classroom screen, press “Full screen” so the whole line can watch. When each prize exists only once, switch on “Remove the winner after each spin”. A prize that has been won then leaves the wheel, so the next player cannot land on something that is already gone.

Where a prize wheel spinner fits

  • A classroom reward box: a student who fills a sticker chart spins once for a privilege.
  • A school fair booth, where each child with a ticket spins and takes home whatever lands.
  • Family game night: whoever wins a game spins the “Family rewards” list.
  • A live stream, with the wheel on screen while a viewer’s small prize gets picked.

How to use the wheel

  1. Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
  2. Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
  3. Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.

How the pick is made

Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.

Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.

Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.

Questions about the prize wheel

How do I make the top prize harder to get?
Write the smaller prizes on more lines. An entry on two lines has two slices and twice the chance of an entry written once, so a top prize left on a single line comes up less often.
Is this the same as the raffle wheel?
No. Here the slices are prizes and a person spins to see which one they get. To draw a winner from a list of names, use the Raffle Wheel instead.
Does the page keep track of who won what?
No. The Results tab lists the prizes in the order they came up during your visit, but no names are recorded. Write the winners down yourself if you need a record.
Can I use the same prize list at our next event?
Yes. Your edited list stays in this browser, and “Copy link to this wheel” makes a link that opens the same prizes on any device, as long as the list fits in a link.
