About the TV show wheel

The wheel opens with all 59 TV shows, older and newer. “Choose a list” narrows it to one of 7 genres: “Comedy”, “Drama”, “Science fiction”, “Mystery and crime”, “Animation”, “Reality and game shows” or “Action and adventure”. Friends, Doctor Who and Bluey are three of the titles on it.

Many shows fit more than one genre, and each is listed under just one. Every title was looked up on English Wikipedia: each show has an article there, and that article puts the show in the genre it sits under here. The page prints the full list below the wheel, genre by genre.

To build a watch list with no repeats, switch on “Remove the winner after each spin” and spin once for every evening you are planning. A show that has come up then leaves the wheel, and the Results tab keeps your picks in order.

When to spin the TV show wheel

  • Family night: agree on a genre first, then let one spin settle what to watch.
  • Watching alone: spin all 59 and start the first episode of whatever comes up.
  • Trivia with friends: spin a title and see who can name its genre before you check the list.
  • Sleepover: each guest spins once, and the group votes among the picks.

How to use the wheel

  1. Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
  2. Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
  3. Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.

How the pick is made

Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.

Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.

Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.

Questions about the TV show wheel

Is this site connected to a network or a streaming service?
No. This site has no tie to any network, studio or streaming service. The titles belong to their owners and appear on the wheel only as text.
Does the wheel know where I can watch the show?
No. It gives you a title and nothing else: not where the show is streaming, not how many seasons it has and not its age rating.
Are all of these shows fine for young kids?
Not always: ratings differ from show to show, and the wheel cannot see who is on the couch. Check the rating of the title you get before you watch with younger viewers.
Are anime series on this wheel?
No. Anime has a wheel of its own on this site, the Anime Wheel, with series sorted by genre and a separate group for films.
