About the anime character wheel
Every entry on this wheel is a character from a Japanese animated series or film. There are 67 of them in one alphabetical list, chosen for this site from many different series, older and newer. Sailor Moon and Naruto Uzumaki are two of the entries, and each one has a 1 in 67 chance.
Each name was checked against English Wikipedia. Every character on the wheel has an article there, and the name is written in the order that article’s title uses, so the word order may not be the one you expect. The page lists every character, so you can see who is on the wheel before you spin.
For a group, switch on “Remove the winner after each spin”. A character that has come up then leaves the wheel, so everyone gets a different one. That suits a drawing club or a cosplay group where no two people should land on the same character.
Ways to use a random anime character
- Draw the character the wheel picks, from memory or from a reference.
- Spin for a cosplay idea before your next convention.
- Play a guessing game where one person spins and gives clues, and the others name the character.
- Spin twice and debate who would win.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the anime character wheel
- Why is my favorite character not on the wheel?
- Because the list is a selection, with no more than three characters from any one series. Type the missing name on a new line and it gets its own slice.
- Does the wheel show a picture of the character?
- No. It shows a name only, with no picture, so find an image yourself if you need a reference to draw from.
- Can I make a wheel for just one anime?
- Yes. Clear the list and type that show’s characters, one per line. Your list is saved in this browser for this page, and “Copy link to this wheel” makes a link that opens the same wheel for a friend.
- Is this site connected to the studios behind these characters?
- No. This site is not connected to any studio, publisher or owner of these characters, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. The names belong to their owners.
