About the Avatar character wheel
This wheel is about Avatar: The Last Airbender, the American animated TV series, not the science-fiction films that are also called Avatar. It holds 71 characters named in the Wikipedia list of the series’ characters, grouped under that article’s 9 headings, from “Main characters” to “Freedom Fighters”.
Each name is written the way that article displays it, which is why the wheel says Avatar Aang, Uncle Iroh and Fire Lord Ozai. The wheel shows each Avatar character as a name only, with no picture. Below it, the page lists every character under its group, with the source and the date it was read.
Choosing who to be in a pretend game? Turn on “Remove the winner after each spin” before the first player spins, so each picked character leaves the wheel and no two players end up as the same one.
Ways to use an Avatar: The Last Airbender character generator
- Draw the character the wheel lands on, or spin three and put them in one scene.
- Pick a costume: spin, then work out what you would need to dress as that character.
- Play a guessing round: one fan spins without showing the screen and gives clues until someone calls the name.
- Switch to one group, such as “Fire Nation” or “Water Tribe”, when your game needs characters from only that group.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the Avatar character wheel
- Are characters from The Legend of Korra on the wheel?
- No. Characters who appear only in The Legend of Korra, in the comics or in the live-action series are not on the wheel. Any of them can go on it if you type the name on a new line.
- Why is there no “Air Nomads” button?
- That heading holds a single character, Monk Gyatso, so it has no button of its own. He is on the full wheel and in the list on the page.
- How likely is each character to come up?
- On the full wheel each of the 71 characters has a 1 in 71 chance (1.41%). Choose one group and the line under the wheel shows the chance for that smaller list.
- Is this site connected to Avatar: The Last Airbender?
- No. This site is not connected to Avatar: The Last Airbender, its creators or its network. The Avatar names are on this page only so the wheel has something to pick.
