About the Marvel character wheel
Every entry is a character from Marvel Comics. Heroes and villains sit together on one alphabetical list of 68, and the wheel shows each as a name only, with no picture. Spider-Man, Black Panther and Doctor Octopus are three of the entries.
Each name was checked against English Wikipedia, and every character on the wheel has an article there. Below the wheel, the page prints the whole Marvel list, so you can read it before anyone spins.
Planning costumes for a group? Before the first costume spin, turn on “Remove the winner after each spin”. Each Marvel character that comes up then leaves the wheel, so no two people in the group land on the same one.
What to do with a random Marvel character
- Draw the character the wheel picks, then spin again for the next page of your sketchbook.
- Choose a costume: spin once and plan the outfit around the name you get.
- Play a guessing game: one player spins in secret and answers yes-or-no questions until the others name the character.
- Start a ‘who would win’ debate: spin twice and argue for your side.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the Marvel character wheel
- Is every Marvel character on the wheel?
- No. The 68 characters were chosen for this site, and the wheel does not hold every Marvel character. To add one, type the name on a new line in the list.
- Can I spin only heroes or only villains?
- Not with a button. The wheel is one alphabetical list, so delete the names you do not want and spin what is left.
- What is the chance of getting one character?
- Each character has a 1 in 68 chance while the full Marvel list is on the wheel. Delete names or add your own and the line under the wheel shows the new chance.
- Is this site connected to Marvel?
- No. This site is not connected to Marvel or to its parent company. The names belong to Marvel and are listed only so the wheel can pick one.
