Percent Wheel
Spin for a random percentage from 0% to 100%. Choose steps of five or ten first.
No spins yet. Each pick is listed here in order.
About the percent wheel
The wheel opens with 21 labels: 0%, 5%, 10% and so on up to 100%, in steps of five. Under “Choose a list”, “0% to 100% by tens” swaps them for 11 labels. Pick tens when round numbers are enough and fives when you want finer steps.
On a percentage wheel like this one, the number on a slice is only a label. The wheel does not calculate anything with it, and a slice marked 80% is exactly as likely as one marked 5%. The result is a random label for your game, not a probability, a prediction, a grade or a price.
Any line can be edited, so the wheel can hold other steps. For quarters, press “Clear list” and type 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% on four lines. The line under the wheel then shows the new number of entries and the chance of each one.
Games that start with a random percent
- Math warm-up: spin a percent, then have the class work out that percent of a number on the board.
- Estimate game: spin, then have students shade that share of a bar by eye and compare.
- Effort level: spin before each turn of charades or karaoke and perform at that level.
- Made-up scores: spin a pretend rating for a joke, a doodle or a dance move, just for laughs.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the percent wheel
- What is the chance of landing on each percentage?
- On the opening list it is 1 in 21, or 4.76%. On “0% to 100% by tens” each of the 11 slices has a 1 in 11 chance, 9.09%.
- Can I give each slice its own percent chance?
- No. The wheel has no weights or percent sliders, and every slice is the same size. Writing an entry on two lines gives it two slices, twice the chance of an entry written once.
- Can the same percentage come up twice in a row?
- Yes. Each spin is independent, and “Remove the winner after each spin” starts switched off here, so every label stays on the wheel.
- Is there a random percentage generator for every number from 1 to 100?
- Not ready-made: these two lists move in steps of five or ten. The Number Wheel spins a number from any range you set, so set 1 to 100 there and read the result as a percent.
