About the BFDI wheel

BFDI stands for Battle for Dream Island, an online animated series whose contestants are objects. The wheel holds 86 of its characters, as listed on the series’ wiki, which is written by fans: 77 contestants and 9 hosts. Each contestant sits under the season they first competed in, and the group buttons use the wiki’s short names for those seasons: “Season 1: BFDI” (21), “Season 2: BFDIA” (10), “Season 4: BFB” (33), “Season 5: TPOT” (2) and “Season 6: BFDIE” (11).

How likely a character is depends on the list you load. On the full wheel each of the 86 has a 1 in 86 chance (1.16%). “Season 1: BFDI” alone gives 1 in 21 (4.76%), and “Season 4: BFB” gives 1 in 33 (3.03%). Each pick is a name with no picture.

To cast friends as contestants for a game of your own, switch on “Remove the winner after each spin” and give everyone one spin. Whoever comes up leaves the wheel, so no two friends end up as the same character.

Things to do with a random BFDI character

  • Draw the character the wheel picks, in your own style.
  • Hold a “who would you vote for” debate: spin two names and argue for one of them.
  • Choose the star of your next fan animation or comic.
  • Spin on “Hosts” to decide who runs the challenges in your own game.

How to use the wheel

  1. Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
  2. Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
  3. Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.

How the pick is made

Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.

Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.

Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.

Questions about the BFDI wheel

Why is there no Season 3 on the BFDI wheel?
Because the source page lists no contestants under that season. The groups follow the wiki, so the buttons skip from Season 2 to Season 4.
Why is a returning contestant not under a later season?
Each contestant is on the wheel once, under the season in which they first competed. A host who also competed is filed the same way, with the contestants.
Why are “Four”, “Two” and “X” on the wheel?
They are names, not numbers or letters to pick. All three are in the “Hosts” group, which has 9 entries.
Is every BFDI character on the wheel?
It has the contestants and hosts, 86 names in all, as the fan wiki listed them on the date printed under the list. Anyone missing can be typed on a new line.
Is this site connected to the makers of BFDI?
No. This site is not connected to the people who make BFDI, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. The BFDI names on it are read from a wiki that fans write.
