About the superpower wheel
This random power generator starts with all 86 powers on the wheel. They are sorted into 6 groups: body, mind, nature and elements, time and space, animal powers, and odd and funny. Most groups hold the kind of power a comic-book hero might have. “Odd and funny” is for powers like sneezing glitter or never losing a sock.
Every power is generic. No entry names a hero, a movie or a comic, so whatever you spin is yours to build a new character around. The full list is printed on this page under its groups, so a teacher or a parent can read every entry before anyone spins.
When a whole group needs powers, turn the “Remove the winner after each spin” box on, and no two people end up with the same one. For a character with several powers, spin once for each. The Results tab lists every pick of this visit in order, so nothing has to be written down.
Ways to use the superpower spinner
- Drawing prompt: spin a power, then sketch the hero or villain who has it.
- Story starter: spin two powers and write the scene where they meet.
- Table talk: everyone spins once and explains how they would use their power for a day.
- Character building: pair one power from “Mind” with one from “Odd and funny”.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the superpower wheel
- Are these powers taken from a comic or a movie?
- No. The powers were written for this site. They were not copied from a game, a book, an app or another website.
- Can I spin only the funny powers?
- Yes. Choose “Odd and funny” and the wheel holds just those 15 powers. Any other group works the same way.
- Can I add a power of my own?
- Yes. Type it on a new line in the list and the wheel redraws with one more slice. A power typed on two lines gets two slices, so it is twice as likely as a power typed once.
- What if I don’t like the power I get?
- Spin again. Each spin is a fresh draw from the same list, or press “Remove from wheel” first so that power cannot come back.
