About the song association wheel
The wheel opens with all 90 words: single everyday words, sorted into 6 groups. The groups are feelings, weather and nature, time, places, actions and colors, and each one has its own button for a themed round. All of these words were written for this site, not copied out of a book, an app, a game or another website.
In the game of song association, a player gets a word and has to sing a line from any song that contains it, within a short time limit the group agrees on. This page is the song association generator for that game: it hands out the word, and the singing is up to the players.
For a game where no word repeats, tick “Remove the winner after each spin” before the first turn. Each word then leaves the wheel as its result window closes. For a shorter, themed round, choose one group, such as “Colors” with its 13 words.
Ways to play song association with the wheel
- Car rides: one passenger spins on a phone and reads the word out loud.
- Two teams take turns, and a team scores a point for each line sung in time.
- A themed round for a choir or a music class, using one group at a time.
- A songwriting prompt: spin three words and fit all of them into one verse.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the song association wheel
- Can I read the words before kids play?
- Yes. Every word is listed on this page under its group, so a parent or a teacher can read them all first.
- Is there a timer for each turn?
- No. The wheel has no timer. Agree on a limit before you start, such as 10 seconds, and have one player count it down out loud.
- Can I add my own song association words?
- Yes. Type them into the list, one word per line, and each new line becomes a slice. The edited list is saved in this browser for your next visit.
- What if nobody can think of a song for a word?
- Skip it. Press “Remove from wheel” in the result window so the word does not come back, then spin again.
