The wheel picked

About the random number 1 to 11 wheel

This wheel runs from 1 to 11 with one slice per whole number, 11 slices in all. There are no ready lists to swap in, and the numbers are not shown again lower on the page, since the list box next to the wheel already holds every one. Each number has a 1 in 11 chance on each spin.

A soccer team puts eleven players on the field, so the wheel fits a team where each player gets a number from 1 to 11. Spin to choose who leads the warm-up, who takes the first shot in a drill or who picks the next game at practice.

To set a presenting order for a group of eleven, give each person a number and switch on “Remove the winner after each spin”. Spin eleven times. Each number drops off as it is drawn, and the Results tab shows the whole order from first to last when you are done.

Ways to use eleven numbers

  • Opening a reader or packet of eleven pages at a random page for a quick read-aloud.
  • Drawing one of eleven trivia questions for the team whose turn is next.
  • Letting the spin decide which of eleven campers in a cabin chooses the evening song.
  • Choosing a goalkeeper for the first half of a scrimmage from eleven numbered players.

How to use the wheel

  1. Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
  2. Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
  3. Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.

How the pick is made

Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.

Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.

Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.

Questions about the random number 1 to 11 wheel

Why is the chance 9.09% and not a round number?
Because 1 in 11 does not come out to a whole percent. It is about 9.09%, the figure the line under the wheel shows, and every slice shares it.
Can I pick a soccer player by shirt number?
Yes, if the shirts are numbered 1 to 11. For other shirt numbers, clear the list and type the real numbers or the names, one per line.
How do I add a substitute to the wheel?
Type one more line into the list box, such as Sub, and the wheel redraws with that slice added. You can also set “Highest number” one higher and press “Fill the wheel”.
Can my teammates see the same wheel?
Yes, if you send them a link. “Copy link to this wheel” puts your list inside the link, so the players’ names you typed open on another phone just as you left them.
