The wheel picked

About the random number 1 to 24 wheel

The wheel carries every whole number from 1 to 24 on a slice of its own, 24 in all. It comes without ready lists, and the page skips a printed copy of the numbers; look in the list box beside the wheel to see them. A spin gives each number a 1 in 24 chance, or 4.17%.

A day has 24 hours, so a spin here can set the hour for a scene in a story or a pretend schedule. On a 24-hour clock, 13 is one in the afternoon and 18 is six in the evening, which makes the wheel a handy way to practice reading that kind of time.

To fill a countdown calendar with 24 doors, number the small treats or notes 1 to 24 and switch on “Remove the winner after each spin”. Spin 24 times in one sitting: the first number drawn goes behind door 1, the second behind door 2, and so on. A packed number leaves the wheel, so nothing goes in twice.

Where a 1 to 24 spin fits

  • Making partners in a class of twenty-four: spin two numbers with the winner removed, and those two students work together.
  • Picking one of two dozen numbered journal prompts for today’s entry.
  • Running a trivia game with twenty-four question cards, spinning with the winner removed until every card has been read.
  • Deciding which of two dozen numbered picture books the class reads aloud next.

How to use the wheel

  1. Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
  2. Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
  3. Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.

How the pick is made

Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.

Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.

Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.

Questions about the random number 1 to 24 wheel

Does the wheel know what day it is?
No. It only draws a number from 1 to 24, so it cannot open today’s door for you. If the spin should skip doors that are already open, delete those numbers from the list.
Can I spin hours from 0 to 23 instead?
Yes. Set “Lowest number” to 0 and “Highest number” to 23, then press “Fill the wheel”. You still get 24 slices, numbered the way a 24-hour clock counts.
Are the numbers still readable with 24 slices?
Yes. Labels on the slices are hidden only when the wheel holds more than 150 entries, so all 24 numbers stay written on the wheel.
Can I give one number a bigger chance?
Only by typing it on a second line. A number written twice gets two slices and twice the chance; there is no other way to weight it.
