About the random number 1 to 7 wheel
Seven slices, numbered 1 through 7, make up this wheel. There are no ready lists to switch between, and the page does not repeat the numbers further down: the list box beside the wheel holds all 7 of them, one per line. Every spin gives each number a 1 in 7 chance, shown under the wheel as 14.3%.
A week has seven days, so a 1 to 7 spin can stand for a day once you settle how to count. Call Monday 1 and Sunday 7, or start the week on Sunday, as long as everyone agrees before the wheel turns. If you would rather read the day itself, type Monday through Sunday into the list box in place of the numbers.
To share out seven chores, number them on paper and switch on “Remove the winner after each spin”. Then spin seven times: the first number is Monday’s chore, the second is Tuesday’s, and so on. A drawn number leaves the wheel, so no chore lands on two days. “Fill the wheel” puts all seven back for the next week.
What a 1 to 7 spin can settle
- Choosing which night of the week is family game night, with 1 as Monday and 7 as Sunday.
- Seating seven guests: each one spins once with the winner removed and takes the chair with that number.
- Running a quiz round of seven questions, spinning to pick which card gets read next.
- Deciding who goes first among seven people at a table, then playing clockwise from there.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the random number 1 to 7 wheel
- Which day of the week is number 1?
- Whichever day you choose, because the wheel shows only numbers. Agree on a key before the spin, for example 1 for Monday and 7 for Sunday, and keep it the same all week.
- Can the wheel land on 7 itself?
- Yes. The slices run from 1 up to and including 7, so both ends have the same chance as the numbers between them.
- What if only six people show up?
- Delete the line with 7 from the list box. The wheel redraws with six slices, and the line under it shows the new chance for each number that is left.
- Can I spin 0 to 6 instead of 1 to 7?
- Yes. Set “Lowest number” to 0 and “Highest number” to 6, then press “Fill the wheel”. Any range of whole numbers loads the same way, negative ones included, up to 1,000 numbers.
